I'm not dead

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 29, 2010, 11:36 AM
Just Busy.

School is really holding me up, I have term papers, thesis applications, and college work in general to get done. I wish I had more time and many more hours in the day, but that isn't possible.

I'll update more as possible as time moves in.

Until then, talk to ya soon.

Devmeet Jan 09 2010 results!

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 18, 2010, 10:23 AM
Jan 09 Devmeet was a success! We took tons of photos and had a nice turnout.

Check out this photo for all of the members who came!:[link]

We had tons of fun and did make it to 14th street from 42nd. The meet did last till 5 I believe which is the time I wished it would last till.

Some of us froze our butts off though, ahh well...its early january, what would ya expect?

Next time I hold one of these kinds of meets (probably summer or spring), i'll be more advisable on what to wear and what kinds of things will occur on this meet, since we had many non-photographers who got bored at us photographers shooting and stopping constantly.
Ahh well

I'll update more stuff later, i've been busy with school.

NYC January Meetup- 1 More Day!

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 7, 2010, 11:39 PM
1 more day till the meet!

Hope you guys are ready!

---------------------

Read about it right here
[link]

Its going to be cold, dress warmly if you need to. We will make coffee/ food/ warm time stops indoors to keep people from getting too cold.
Oh...and wear gloves, they keep you warm too!

I'll also be noting the people who RSVP'D probably tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
-------
Someone has recently sent me a note that they cannot RSVP through the :iconthisisnyc: page. So, for any reason, you cannot RSVP through there, please send me a note just pretty much saying you want to RSVP.

So now, you're two options to RSVP are:

-Rsvping via clicking the attend button on the thisisnyc page or

- Rsvping by sending me a note.

Thanks, Dev

--------------
And its not as bad as it sounds! Here is the link to the Itinerary:[link]

As seen, most of the meet will be discussed by you guys who come! I really wanna know what fellow deviants see as their favorite part of NYC, and we will try to bring the group there. Read up on it, and tell me what ya think!

On a lighter note, this event is not exclusively for photographers. I have heard a bit of confusion on that topic, and I will restate that this meet is for any deviant (or non deviant to come). There will be fun for all!

As Stated:
"On a light note, this event is not only for photographers. Everyone is invited to come, and it will be loads of fun exploring the city together. Although we will be talking tons on photography, there is no requirement to have a camera (although it is recommended if you want to take photo's of stuff we see en route). If ya don't have one, you would still be able to join in for the ride and meetup with deviants/ enjoy the city! Regardless, as stated before, everyone is welcome to come!

------------------------
A little bit of a change of plans since I only recieved 3 RSVP's so far, and I've heard of many people wishing to go to this meet. Since :iconthisisnyc: officially turned into a group a couple of days ago, they have the ability to create this event there and make it so a list of attendees is present at their page.

To RSVP for this event, just click attend on the event on the :iconthisisnyc: page.

I have a feeling this will be a better way to do RSVP's because I am aware not too many people are comfortable with giving away their phone numbers on the net. The only reason I did it that way was because that was how the first DevMeet went (back in summer 08).

What I will do, is the day before (or a couple of days before), I will send a note to everyone who chooses to attend with my number, and if safety issues appear (someone gets lost), you can call that number.

-------------------------

Meet Details:

Purpose of the Event: To meet with photographers, professionals, non, and hobbyists to share like talents and look for interesting captures around New York. Anyone is welcome to join (photographer or not), and there will be loads of fun at the event.

When: Saturday January 09, 2009 (In the rain, sun, sleet, or snow) at 1:30 P.M
How Long: The photography tour should take no longer than 5-6P.M, although anyone is welcome to stay/ leave whenever they are avaiable.

Where?: For simplicity, the meet up will be at the Jackie Gleason Statue at Port Authority just like older Deviant meets. Google maps:[link]

What We Will do: In the most simplest terms, we will meet up, and shoot photos. Over the day, we will first introduce each other, walk over to Bryant Park, have a little pep talk about the event and talk more about photography in the city, and then tour and shoot the city, exploring more of downtown and possibly reaching Bowling Green at the end of the day. There will be ALLOT of walking, so get ready for that After that, the formal meet is over, but everyone is welcome to hang out, eat dinner, and do whatnot together.

-A planned and detailed itinerary will be up before the 20th of December,

Any Requirements? No, not really. Having a camera of any sort would be nice, because we will be shooting mainly. No experience is needed, as I am sure many members of the meet will be assisting in teaching and giving advice. Although if people are up for just the walk and talk, then they are welcome. Although, one thing I recommend is to bring a little bit of cash for food and maybe some spending money.

Age? Looks? Anyone is welcome to come, and no one shall judge you by that. I respect my fellow deviants, and I wish that everyone in the meet to do the same. Although, as a recommendation if you are under 16 to bring a parent or parental permission to come to the event. I will not keep track of that although.</b>

I need extra people to help me with organizing this event. Stuff will be simple if ya do help, and you will get recognized on DA for it. Please contact me via sending me a note

If anyone wants to come up with ideas of the city that they are interested to shoot please note me

If there are any suggestions at all, you know where to note.

Yankees Win, Courses Scheduled, Photography halt

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 5, 2009, 9:30 AM
Wow, where has the time gone by?

I swear, it was like yesterday when I actually moved into my new dorm, got my Nikon D90, etc, and now it is almost thanksgiving week.

Good news of time passing by, I'm starting to gain a bit more free time due to work lessening (getting all my work done earlier so I can catch some christmas lights during the season), and long enjoyable breaks to shoot photos coming up.

Bad news, directly after the break, I will have absolutely no time to probably shoot anything until summer. Maybe I will try to hold back on one or two days when it is just beautiful outside, or there are some nice events going on, but my schedule will not let me bend otherwise.

My schedule consists of senior level political science courses, junior level economics courses, and mainly a junior level Journalism courses. There is also a sophomore level english course (which is not easy, everyone gets like a C on it), and a couple of gen eds to even out the pain.

I will still be on to comment on art, and see whats going on in the community, but chances are, I will not be extremely active.

On a final note, the Yankees won the world series, which I am extremely happy about. Living just an hour away from Philadelphia, I never hear the obnoxious end of philly fans blabbing about how much the yankees suck and the phillies rule.  Now I have something to show to their face. Good game to all of the players although, and I laugh at you philly fans.

I'll update my journal more often, cya guys later.

I'm sick of work

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 5, 2009, 11:28 PM
Who isn't right?

Well I got my new camera a month ago, and I haven't even been able to test it out in a recent amount of time. I have the worst class times (which i should of fixed earlier), but I always miss the good times for shots. I wish i took my classes earlier in the morning now. I always loose magic hour (a night course practically every night), and many other things occurring.

I'm still on the late hours after I finish most of my work, lurking, looking at art etc., coming up with ideas, but it simply does not feel it is working if I don't get out on the field. I've seen some great stuff which I had to pass up due to classes. It sucked, allot.

Well eitherway, enough of that.  I will be heading back to New york for one day, on October 17th for a DeviantMeet held by :iconthisisnyc:. Check it out in the journal if you are in the area on that day. I'll be there with my camera shooting a ton. Hopefully interesting things will appear

Until then, I am going to actually be commenting allot on art. Everything that hits my message box, I will try to look at and give a comment on. I am looking for some recent stuff to feature and post here on my journal. We will see what will occur.

That is all for now, hopefully I will shoot again in the next couple of days, and update this journal more often.

Cya!

Whatsup?

Hello again guys,

Its been a long year of no updates, no shots, and pretty much nothing. I do have an explanation behind why so. My first and most major reason is a bit embarrassing, but its because my camera got stolen. I still do not know who did it or what happened, but that was the reason I did not appear on DeviantArt much. I could not stand to see other photography without me having the ability to shoot.
Another reason is because of the huge amounts of schoolwork I have. I currently go to college and I'm majoring in Economics/ Political Economy. That makes life very busy and whatnot, not giving much time to shoot.

Issue number one is resolved, but number two is still there. The degree is surely hard stuff and it does take allot of work. This means my uploads will probably be less frequent than it has been in the past. I will although change around my style allot throughout the time and spend more time on shots though.

Speaking of changes, I got a huge list of stuff. So lets move on to some of the positives right?

Number 1: New Camera- I Got a Nikon D90 now (Thanks to my girlfriend!:)). Not too much of a change right? Well the big difference there is the lens. It is now a cheaper but more efficient Nikon 50mm F./1.8 Lens. That means many things, for example, I will not be relying on zoom anymore, if not at all! Also I may be shooting more low light stuff and start shooting portraits with the amazing DOF.
You'll just have to wait and see the changes there.

Number 2: I am a premium member, once again. I realize last time around, when I quit due to my camera and whatnot I was in the middle of featuring a group. I was going to do that, and I still am. I still have the word document with the list of photos I enjoyed, and I will be looking out for more. I am hoping to do a feature this upcoming weekend!

Number 3: I'll be shooting with people now! I will take time to shoot alone because I do believe that is the best way to shoot, but frankly I gotta try it with some other heads. Just to see what more hands can do, and whatnot can happen.  This will greatly change around the photos done.

Number 4: I am doing prints! Not through Deviantart, but through a personal mean. I've had luck selling photographs in the past, but now I'm going to kick it up another notch and start selling more. Don't think i'm gonna sell out though! I am still gonna shoot from the heart and not what other people want me to shoot.

Well thats a bit of whatsup for now. I promise there will be more updates and a feature in the future. Just stay Tuned!

Cya.
